Iowa to be down pair of starters for Pinstripe Bowl

Iowa will be at less than full strength for its final game of the 2017 season.

Kirk Ferentz confirmed Wednesday that his squad will be without two starters, redshirt freshman offensive tackle Alaric Jackson and senior strong safety Miles Taylor, for next week’s Pinstripe Bowl game against Boston College. The former has been suspended from the game for what’s only being described as unspecified violations of team rules, the latter because of an unspecified injury that required a surgical procedure to repair.

"[Taylor has] worked hard so far to meet the goals we’ve put in front of him. As long as he continues to do that, he will be with the team, but will not be dressed for the ballgame,” the head coach said according to the Quad City Times, before addressing the other lost starter.

“It’s a big loss because Miles has played a lot of good football for us but more importantly has been a strong team leader, a tremendous young man,” Ferentz said.

Jackson started all 12 games this season as a first-year starter, while Taylor started nine. Taylor finished the regular season seventh on the team in tackles with 42.
