Love him or hate him, you have to hand it to Lane Kiffin.Even as he has created all kinds of controversy during his brief tenure in Knoxville, he certainly hasn’t cowered from his words and pretend as if things simply didn’t happen or don’t exist. And, if anything, he likes to ratchet things up a notch or two when the heat gets turned up.Case in point? At the Big Orange Tipoff Club earlier today, Kiffin addressed the crowd and seemed to allude to his comments that created a national firestorm a week ago."We’ll make sure that we don’t offend anyone in the conference or any other school,” Kiffin said according to the Knoxville News. “We’ll be very nice."Kiffin, as seems to be his nature, then took a verbal jab at one of the most venerable coaches in the SEC."I like to have fun with some things,” Kiffin said. “The example I can give you is that Steve Spurrier came out the first day I was here and accused me of recruiting without having passed the test (as required by the NCAA)."I didn’t call the (SEC) commissioner whining about it. I just shot back at him, joking around with him. We’ll make sure we’re aware of how sensitive people are around here.” Touché, Coach. Touché.Like I said, love him or hate him, Kiffin has certainly added a little sizzle to a conference that season-in and season-out bursts at the seams with story lines both on and off the field.
