COACH SARK NOW BLOGGING

Whether it’s facebook, twitter, or starting a blog, it seems like everyday another coach jumps headfirst into the internet revolution. Now we can add Steve Sarkesian, new coach of the Washington Huskies, whose blog CoachSark.com launched earlier this week that “will be your behind-the-scenes connection to the Washington Football program.” The blog is a far cry from the previous administration at UW, where coach Tyrone Willingham operated under a veil of secrecy, and sometimes needed months to allow returning players access to practice. The blog will be run by Matt Peterson, a former reporter with the Seattle Times. The move by Sarkesian to start a blog is clearly something he got from former mentor Pete Carroll, who has been running PeteCarroll.com for a few years, and has helped lead the internet revolution of head coaches with his twittering, facebooking, and web-videos that have put him ahead of the curve when adapting to the new communication tools used to reach fans and recruits alike.Even if CoachSark.com immediately is docked 10 points for using an emoticon (He gave us a wink), there’s plenty of things that Husky fans will find interesting, like today’s one on one interview with defensive coordinator Nick Holt.
