Moped DUI lineman transferring from Clemson

Offensive lineman Barry Humphries was facing a two-game suspension for his second DUI arrest since coming to Clemson.

As a result, Humphries was buried deep on the Tigers’ depth chart, with little or no chance of climbing much higher.

With those two considerations in mind, Humphries has decided to transfer from the program/.

The school announced the lineman’s intentions via a statement released in Humphries’ name.

“I would like to be a starter in my final year of college and it would be very difficult for that to be the case at Clemson this year,” Humphries said in the statement. “With my suspension for the first two games I was not going to get a lot of action in preseason camp, and it was going to be difficult to get in the mix as a starter.

“So, I plan to transfer to a school where I might have the opportunity to get a starting position.”

The senior was arrested for DUI while on his moped in early May. He was also arrested for DUI in 2005, and he was suspended from Clemson’s bowl game that season.
