Cal TE’s season over, career may be as well

For the second time in three years, Cal tight end Tad Smith has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the 2009 season.

Not only will Smith miss this season, his college football career could be over as well as he’s a fifth-year senior. Smith could petition the NCAA for a sixth year, but it’s unknown whether he will take that route.

Smith suffered the injury during a scrimmage last night.

The TE had been in a fight with sophomore Anthony Miller for the starting job. Obviously, Miller will win the job by default.
