Beaver receiver DOES NOT have broken hand

On Monday, Oregon State thought they had lost wide receiver Darrell Catchings for a month with a hand injury.

On Tuesday, they thought they had lost Catchings for the season with a broken bone in his hand.

Today? Catchings could be back as early as September 12.

It seems as though the break doctors saw in an X-ray was actually an old one from a previously undetected injury. Therefore, Catchings season is not over -- probably -- although it’s still uncertain when he will return.

“Best way for me to explain it, he DOES NOT have a fracture,” head coach Mike Riley said according to the Oregonian. “It was an old fracture that had healed that they initially saw on an X-ray.”

According to Riley, there will be no need “to surgically repair the bone and put a pin in there, or anything like that.”
