‘Zona making a change at QB

With Matt Scott struggling mightily during the early portion of the season, Arizona will now turn to Nick Foles in an attempt to give them a spark at the quarterback position, head coach Mike Stoops announced yesterday.

Foles, who transferred from Michigan State last year, will be making his first career collegiate start.

“Finding continuity within our offense is a pretty big concern,” Stoops said.

“We’re going to see if we can get a little bit of a flow in our offense,” Stoops said. “By no stretch of the imagination is this any reflection on Matt. I think Matt has done a lot of good things. We just want to give Nick a chance to start and see what Nick does with that, see if we can settle down and make some plays.”

Even as the Wildcats hit the quarter pole of the season at 2-1, it sometimes seemed that was achieved in spite of Scott. The sophomore completed 37 of 64 passes for 402 yards, with one touchdown and three interceptions. Included in those totals was a 4-for-14, 50-yard performance in the 27-17 loss this past weekend.

In limited action, Foles has gone 12 of 19 for 99 yards and two touchdowns.
