Lacerated kidney sidelines Louisville’s Simien

Louisville will be without starting safety Terence Simien indefinitely after the JUCO transfer suffered a lacerated kidney in the loss to Kentucky, head coach Steve Kragthorpe announced yesterday.

Kragthorpe said there’s a possibility the kidney will have to be removed if it doesn’t heal itself.

“We’re hopeful that that kidney will repair itself, and it’s just going to be a matter of time before we know if that will happen or not,” Kragthorpe said according to the Louisville Courier-Journal. “The best-case scenario is that the kidney repairs itself -- the worst-case scenario is that he has to have that kidney removed, so we’re hoping and praying for the best.”

Simien will be replaced by the senior tandem of Daniel Covington and Richard Ragli.
