Florida ‘cautiously optimistic’ Tebow will play vs. LSU

Has there ever been a more perfect spot for a bye weekend?

Florida will be idle this coming Saturday, and it’s a very fortuitous off day as Tim Tebow, for those of you who have been in a coma the past two days, suffered a concussion in the Gators’ win over Kentucky.

According to Mr. College Football Tony Barnhart, several people close to the situation have told him they are cautiously optimistic that Tebow will be able to return and play in the Gators’ game Oct. 10 against LSU.

Barnhart adds that the next 48 hours will be crucial in determining how long Tebow will need to rest, and if he’ll be available for the SEC road game.

Tebow was hospitalized overnight in Kentucky, but was released yesterday morning and returned to Gainesville. Head coach Urban Meyer and several members of the UF football program stayed with Tebow in the hospital.

Tim is doing fine,” Meyer said according to the Palm Beach Post. “Our medical and athletic training staff will continue to monitor him to determine how much rest and recovery he needs. We will have additional information and updates this week.”

An unnamed teammate told the paper that “all news is positive. He’s back to joking around and having a good time.”

Whether that good time will include a trip to Baton Rouge to face the No. 4 team in the country remains to be seen.
