‘Cocks lose starting tight end to bum ankle

An ankle injury will sideline tight end Weslye Saunders for this weekend’s game with Kentucky, South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier announced today.

Saunders had been dealing with an ankle issue prior to this week, but aggravated the injury at some point during the course of practice.

The junior was third on the team with 14 catches for 156 yards.

In place of Saunders, Spurrier will turn to freshman Justice Cunningham, who has one catch this season and will make his first career start.
