Bradford’s shoulder ‘fine’, ‘great’ following return

While the return of Tim Tebow from a concussion garnered most of the headlines following this past weekend’s slate of games, there was another high-profile quarterback who made his return to the field as well.

And, at first blush, it went off without a hitch.

According to head coach Bob Stoops, Sam Bradford showed no ill effects in his injured shoulder after throwing 49 passes in Oklahoma’s win over Baylor. Bradford missed the previous three games with a sprain AC joint in his throwing shoulder, but the fact that the junior was able to handle such a heavy workload in his first game back left both coach and player happy.

“Talking to him on Sunday, he said he felt just fine,” Stoops said during this morning’s Big 12 teleconference. “He said he doesn’t hurt one bit. He threw 49 balls, and he said he felt great.

“He did throw for about 390 yards and had probably 10 drops. So he still had an excellent day. I’m sure there will be more improvement this week.”

Even as Bradford’s return was deemed a success, he didn’t have the services of the Sooners’ leading receiver at his disposal. That may change as early as this weekend, though.

Stoops said Ryan Broyles, who suffered a fractured shoulder blade on Oct. 3, “has not been ruled out for” the huge Big 12 showdown with Texas this weekend.
