‘Horns may find themselves in RB quandary vs. Sooners

When the 104th edition of the Red River Shootout -- I refuse to refer to its corporate name -- kicks off this Saturday, Texas could find themselves extremely shorthanded in the offensive backfield against Oklahoma.

According to the Dallas Morning News, neither Vondrell McGee nor Tre Newton are listed on the initial depth chart due to injury.

McGee has a left shoulder injury, while Newton has been diagnosed with a mild concussion. Each suffered their injury in the win over Colorado and are listed as day-to-day.

McGee and Newton are far and away the Longhorns’ leading rushers, combining for 461 yards and five touchdowns for the No. 3 team in the country.

Fozzy Whittaker, who has battled his own injuries since the beginning of summer camp, and Cody Johnson are listed as the co-starters on the latest depth chart.
