Starting ‘Cocks OL suddenly bolts the program

In a somewhat unexpected development, offensive lineman Heath Batchelor has left the South Carolina football program, The State newspaper is reporting.

According to a source close to the player, Batchelor left because football wasn’t enjoyable to him anymore.

Neither the player nor the team were available to comment on the development.

This is the second time Batchelor has left the program. Due to personal reasons, he left the team in the middle of the 2008 season. He came back to the school this past June, but only after complying with university-imposed requirements.

Batchelor started three games at left guards for the Gamecocks this season, and will likely be replaced by Jarriel King, who would slide inside from his listed tackle position.
