Pike has procedure performed on forearm

According to a report by ESPN.com‘s Brian Bennett, Cincinnati quarterback Tony Pike underwent a procedure this morning to repair the plate in his left (non-throwing) forearm.

The plate, which was inserted along with six screws after he fractured the forearm last season, apparently shifted when he was knocked to the ground by a South Florida defensive lineman last Thursday. That shifting led to the procedure being performed today.

Pike practiced yesterday, albeit with a brace on his forearm.

The ESPN.com report states that the Bearcats are hopeful Pike can return to practice on Thursday. Whether or not Pike is able to play Saturday against Louisville will depend on, among other things, the amount of swelling in his arm.

If Pike is unable to go, Zach Collaros and Chazz Anderson are being prepared to take the starter’s place. Collaros played well after replacing Pike in the USF game, throwing for 72 yards, rushing for 132 yards, and finding the end zone on two scoring runs.
