Dixon’s huge day helps Miss. St. inch closer to bowl goal

If Mississippi State fails to reach bowl eligibility, you won’t be able to pin the blame on running back Anthony Dixon.

Behind Dixon’s school-record 252 yards rushing, the Bulldogs upended Kentucky 31-24 and improved to 4-5 on the season.

For Dixon, the record-setting day was good, but getting closer to the team’s preseason goal was even better.

I guess it’s just another one of those goals I made, a dream come true,” Dixon said. "... I was just out there grinding for my team tonight. I’m really trying to get to that bowl game. That’s the No. 1 thing that’s on that list of goals this year. We inched a little closer to that, and for that, I’m happy.”

MSU is now two wins away from bowl eligibility, but the road to get those wins is not an easy one to say the least. The Bulldogs have home games against Alabama and Ole Miss remaining, plus a road trip to Fayetteville to face Arkansas in between.
