Sooners to be without starting lineman vs. Aggies

The offensive line had been a source of concern for Bob Stoops throughout the offseason, and that concern stretched into the regular season as the unit has been bogged down by penalties and bad play.

Now, Oklahoma will head into their match-up Saturday night with Texas A&M without their most consistent lineman.

According to Stoops, starting left guard Brody Eldridge will be held out of the Aggies game with a shoulder injury.

The lineman suffered the injury in the 10-3 loss to Nebraska this past weekend.

We’ll let Tulsa World take care of what this means for the line.

His absence this weekend leaves the Sooners with a few options. They could move right guard Stephen Good to the left side, something they did in the second half at Nebraska, and slide right tackle Jarvis Jones down to right guard. They could try freshman Tyler Evans, a starter back in September who has been dealing with an ankle injury.

Or they could reinsert guard Tavaris Jeffries back into the mix. Jeffries started the Miami, Baylor and Texas games at right guard before being suspended for OU’s win at Kansas Oct. 24. He suited up against Kansas State the following Saturday but did not play, then missed the trip to Nebraska because of a family situation.
