Bobby to come full circle in coaching curtain call

Here are a few more bowl bids that have been officially announced as we head toward the official announcement of the BcS pairings this evening, including one that completes the circle of coaching life.

  • Virginia Tech, Tennessee have accepted bids to play in the Dec. 31 Chick-fil-A Bowl at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

  • Ole Miss will play Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 2.

  • Nevada and SMU will play in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl on Christmas Eve. It will be the Mustangs first bowl game in over 20 years.

  • In arguably the biggest news on the bowl front thus far, Florida State will face West Virginia in the Gator Bowl on Jan. 1. Bobby Bowden will be coaching his final game at FSU, and it will come against the school he left back in the mid-70’s to head to Tallahassee.

  • Oregon State has drawn BYU in the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 22.

  • For the first time in school history, Rutgers will appear in a bowl game for the fifth consecutive season as the Scarlet Knights officially accepted a bid to the St. Petersburg Bowl on December 19 versus Central Florida of Conference USA. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. at Tropicana Field

  • North Carolina will be Pittsburgh’s ACC opponent in the Meineke Car Car Bowl.

  • The Wyoming Cowboys are bowl bound as the New Mexico Bowl on Sunday extended an invitation to the Cowboys to face Fresno State. The Fourth Annual New Mexico Bowl will be the first bowl game of the 2009 bowl season, and will be played on Saturday, Dec. 19 in Albuquerque. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m., Mountain Time.

  • California will play a still-to-be-determined Mountain West for in the San Diego Credit Poinsettia Bowl Dec. 23.

  • Missouri will play Navy in the Texas Bowl on New Year’s Eve.
