What, you thought we would get through the rest of the day without yet another report on the state of the Notre Dame coaching search?
Just when it looked like Brian Kelly was a mortal lock for the job at some point this week, ESPN.com‘s Joe Schad flings another log into the rumor mill fire.
According to Schad, a source tells him that there is “mutual interest” between UConn head coach Randy Edsall and the Irish.
This is the latest in a string of reports attaching Edsall’s name to the vacancy in South Bend. This morning, for example, the South Bend Tribune reported that Edsall might interview for the job today.
Thus far, though, the coach has adamantly refused to address the speculation in any type of meaningful way.
