Sounds of silence from Harbaugh, Stanford

Multiple media outlets in the Kansas City area were reporting Friday afternoon/evening that Kansas had offered their head coaching position to Stanford’s Jim Harbaugh and that he would accept the offer at some point shortly after tonight’s Heisman Trophy ceremony.

As of yet, and perhaps adding at least a little bit of credence to the reports, there have been no public attempts made by either Harbaugh or his current school to shoot down this latest round of speculation.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, neither Harbaugh nor Stanford athletic director Bob Bowlsby have responded to interview requests.

Also from the Mercury News, Jon Wilner writes that he’s attempted to reach Harbaugh by phone and Bowlsby via email; neither have responded to Wilner’s inquiries regarding this latest spate of reports.

Jayhawks athletic director Lew Perkins did respond, saying in a statement released by the school after these reports hit the airwaves that they “have not offered the head coaching position to anyone.”
