Good start/possibly horrific start for ‘Horns

The good for Texas? A three and out on Alabama’s first possession that ended with an interception off a fake punt after Nick Saban channeled some type of bizarro Bill Belicichick on fourth and 23 from the Tide’s own 20-yard line

The potentially horrific? Colt McCoy is hurt on what, at first blush, looked to be a seemingly innocuous first-quarter play.

According to the telecast, McCoy suffered an injury to his right (throwing) shoulder on a run that netted no yards deep in ‘Bama territory.

Garrett Gilbert -- that would be Garrett Gilbert of the freshman Garrett Gilbert’s -- replaced McCoy with the ball at the Tide 11-yard line, and the net result of the post-Colt drive was a field goal.

3-0, Texas.

However, McCoy was last seen being taken in to the locker room and, if he can’t return, it would be a huge -- possibly fatal -- blow to the Longhorns.

(Writer’s Note: my apologies for stepping on Mr. Arnold’s toes. The Vicodin will henceforth flow freely. The elbow and wrist give you a huge “gracias”, Keith.)
