Heart condition still an issue for Trojans’ Telfort

Southern Cal linebacker Frankie Telfort missed all of the 2009 season due to a heart condition.

As far as the 2010 season -- and beyond -- is concerned, it’s not looking much better for the freshman.

Telfort, one of the top linebackers in the Class of ’09, was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy last July and it was thought that his football career was over. The LB underwent another round of testing earlier this month as he still holds out hope that he can play collegiately, but did perform well enough to receive medical clearance and begin playing football again.

Telfort seemed resigned to the fact that he won’t receive clearance from the USC medical staff at any point in the near future.

“The doctors at USC are still the same ones,” Telfort said according to the Los Angeles Daily News. “They won’t allow me to play.”
