Special delivery: FedEx Field might host Irish-Terps game

With one college football game already in the bag -- Boise State-Virginia Tech in 2010 -- the home of the Washington Redskins is looking to lock down another game for the following season.

According to the Washington Post, negotiations are underway to bring the 2011 Notre Dame-Maryland game to FedEx Field.

While the talks are ongoing, no deal has been finalized.

“We look for special opportunities, but we have none right now to announce,” Maryland athletic director Debbie Yow told the Post.

Such a game would continue an ongoing trend for Notre Dame as the Irish will play Navy and Army at the new Meadowlands Stadium and new Yankee Stadium, respectively, in 2010; Army in Orlando in 2011; Navy in Dublin, Ireland, in 2012; and Arizona State and UConn at Cowboys Stadium and Gillette Stadium, respectively, in 2013.
