Gators give DT Brown the heave-ho

Early Sunday morning, Florida defensive tackle Gary Brown was arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts of battery.

Five days later, Brown is now an ex-Florida defensive lineman.

According to the St. Petersburg Times, Brown, who was indefinitely suspended less than 24 hours after the arrest, was dismissed from the football program entirely earlier today.

“Gary Brown has had a history during his time here of not meeting a set of expectations we have for the student athletes in our football program and therefore he is no longer part of our program,’' Steve McClain, UF associate athletic director of communications, said according to the Times.

After refusing to leave a party late Saturday night, Brown allegedly struck one female in the face and scratched another on the arm.
