Top DB recruit leaves USC out of Final Two

As USC awaits word on whether massive offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson will honor his verbal commitment and sign with the Trojans, another highly-touted member of the 2010 recruiting wars has made a decision in regards to the school.

Unfortunately for USC, it’s not what they wanted to hear.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Glenville High High School defensive back Latwan Anderson has whittled his list of potential destinations down to two, and the Trojans are not one of them. Instead, Anderson will attend either Miami (Fla.) and West Virginia.

The biggest factor against USC was something out of their control -- the distance from Los Angeles to Cleveland.

“My mom [Anita Anderson] told me she doesn’t want me going to USC,” said Anderson. “She said it’s too far from home and we don’t have any family in California.

“I’m disappointed with how the USC thing ended up, but I understand how my mom feels. We have family in Florida and if I choose Miami, they’ll be able to see me play more often than if I was in California.”

Anderson, a five-star player and the No. 2 recruit at his position according to Rivals.com, had a visit to USC scheduled this past weekend, but canceled it on Thursday.
