Fedora adds NFL assistant to S. Miss staff

In rounding out his 2010 coaching staff, Larry Fedora dipped into the NFL ranks to fill the void at wide receivers coach, Southern Miss announced this afternoon.

Kasey Dunn, who spent the past two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks as their running backs coach, has been hired to oversee the Golden Eagle receivers.

“We are excited about the addition of Kasey to our staff,” Fedora said in a statement. “He brings in a wealth of knowledge on both sides of the ball and he will come in right away to help our wide receiver corps.”

Prior to his time in the NFL, Dunn spent 17 years at the collegiate level.

Dunn has served on staffs at Maryland (2008), Baylor (2007), Arizona (2004-06), Texas Christian (2003), Washington State (1998-2002), New Mexico (1996-97) and Idaho (1993 and 1995).

A 1992 University of Idaho graduate, Dunn was a standout receiver at Idaho from 1987-91, a three-time All-American who ended his career with school records in receptions (268), yards (3,847) and second in touchdowns (25). At the end of his career, his catch total and receiving yards ranked second all-time in the Football Championship Subdivision, trailing only Jerry Rice.

Following his collegiate playing career, Dunn spent two seasons as a player in the CFL and one in the NFL.
