Presumptive starting punter fleeing Happy Valley

(Hey, stop the giggling. They’re football players too. Kind of.)

Penn State could spend at least a portion of their spring practice this year in search of a new punter, fightonstate.com by way of the Allentown Morning Call is reporting.

The website reports that Ryan Breen, who was expected to replace Jeremy Boone as the Nittany Lions’ starting punter, has left the football team. It’s uncertain whether this is just a temporary “leave of absence” or if it’s a permanent development.

If Breen does not return, the Morning Call reports that kickers Collin Wagner, David Soldner and Anthony Fera could try their hand -- or foot, as the case may be -- at the position.

Additionally, former Temple punter Russell Nye is reportedly on PSU’s spring roster.
