The Pirate heads to Stillwater... for a visit

Apropos of really nothing, Oklahoma State hosted a pair of well-known visitors recently, with both of them being former college football head coaches who are now out of the game for entirely different reasons.

According to the Daily Oklahoman, former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach and former USC head coach Pete Carroll have visited with coach Mike Gundy and his staff.

Leach has a connection with Dana Holgorsen as the new Cowboys offensive coordinator was on Leach’s Red Raider coaching staff from 2000 through 2007. Gundy said he and his staff were able to bounce ideas on the offensive side of the ball off Leach given the coach’s familiarity with the scheme being run this season.

“He was around at practice and in some meetings,” Gundy said. “We visited about what we were doing, double checking X and O’s. I spent some time with him, and he was explaining the offense to me. It was good to see him.”
