Temple hands Golden multi-year extension

As we have hit yet another lull in the college football news cycle -- and by “lull” we mean “there’s just not jacks--- going on right now -- we figured we might as well toss out this MAC note to the masses.

Especially because, even with the extension, it involves a head coach who, based on the job he’s done thus far, will be at a BcS school sooner rather than later. Probably. Maybe.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Al Golden has received a new five-year deal from Temple. Golden had two years remaining on his original contract.

There was no word on what, if any, bumps in pay were included in the new pact.

While Golden is 19-30 during his four years at with the Owls, the school finished 9-4 last season and tied for first in the MAC’s Eastern Division.

He was also rumored to be a candidate for the Cincinnati opening when Brian Kelly bolted for Notre Dame, but pulled his name from consideration after speaking to UC officials. Additionally, his name was attached to the opening at East Carolina.
