From the “No News is Postable News at This Time of the Year” department comes word from Dave Wannstedt on all of the expansion rumblings making its way across the collegiate landscape over the past few months.
Or, more to the point, it’s Wannstedt on what he doesn’t know about the expansion issue.
Pittsburgh, of course, has been -- along with Missouri, Nebraska, Rutgers and Syracuse -- at the center of the expansion discussion as it relates to schools that the Big Ten might try and ply. Even given Pitt’s ties to the speculation and innuendo, Wannstedt knows nothing about any of it.
“There are a lot of rumors out there as far as I’m concerned,” the coach said according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I don’t have any comment on that. That is for the chancellor [Mark Nordenberg] and the higher ups to discuss.”
He added that he’s had “zero” involvement in any expansion discussions.
So, there you have it. Wannstedt knows nothing about the subject.
