UCLA backup tailback Milton Knox transfers

According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN Los Angeles, UCLA backup tailback Milton Knox will transfer from the school.

“It didn’t really work out like I wanted it to work out,” stated Knox, a local product from Lake Balboa, California. “Sometimes that’s just how the cards fall. There’s no hard feelings or anything.”

He’s right, there won’t be many hard feelings. On UCLA’s end, at least.

Knox appeared in just seven games as a redshirt freshman in 2009, essentially operating as a fourth-string ball carrier (not including quarterback Kevin Prince) with 29 carries. He did most of his work in the Bruins’ Wildcat formation.

Originally a consensus four-star recruit, the 5-foot-8, 202-pounder’s reasoning to transfer isn’t entirely clear. The Bruins did sign Gatorade National Player of the Year Malcolm Jones to push for playing time at running back. It’s also worth noting that Knox was academically ineligible in 2008. In 2009, he couldn’t beat out Johnathan Franklin or Derrick Coleman.

Even since-graduated fullback Chane Moline carried the football more than Knox last season.

And according to UCLA, Moline is 84 years old.
