Back in February, as the NCAA hearing based in large part on his allegedly illegal acts was set to commence, Reggie Bush was a very quotable and vigorous defender of his former football program, staunchly propping up USC with all of the
bluster gusto an ex-player could muster in his situation.
“I can’t really speak on [the probe] because of pending things, but I’ve done everything I can and I will defend ‘SC until the day I die. … That’s just because I felt USC was so good to me. … I am USC and I represent USC.”
Now, as the findings — and possible sanctions — from the investigation into his allegedly illegal acts while a member of the football program he would “defend until the day I die” are about to be made public, Bush is once again staunchly standing side by side with the school he is and represents, right?
Meh, not so much.
“None, just whatever happens, happens,” Bush said when asked by the New Orleans Times-Picayune if he had any thoughts on USC. “What I’m really focused on is where I’m at right now, where I’m at with the Saints’ team right now, and so just really looking toward the future.”
The school you said three months ago you would defend until the day you die could possibly be facing major sanctions — yes, I typed that with a straight face — due in large part to your allegedly illegal acts, and all you have to freaking say is “whatever happens, happens”?
Here’s a suggestion for a new family crest or coat of arms: it should contain words that rhyme with “schmunk”, “schmass” and “schmitch”.
Yeah, that would pretty much sum Mr. Bush up to a “T”.
