Update: Top QB Miller expected to give verbal to Buckeyes

Earlier today, we noted that Braxton Miller, one of the top two dual-threat quarterbacks in the 2011 class according to at two major recruiting services, will announce Thursday at noon a verbal commitment to his school of choice.

It’s been reported for the last couple of weeks that the Ohio product was down to Ohio State and Florida, with a decided lean toward the Buckeyes.

This evening, it seems as if its a foregone conclusion -- and would be a major upset -- if Miller opted for anywhere but Columbus.

“It would probably be one of the bigger recruiting upsets if he ended up anywhere other than Ohio State,” Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Jeremy Crabtree said. “I think with what we’ve seen with Ohio State’s offense, a dual-threat quarterback can be successful if you have the right guy to run it, and there’s no better dual-threat quarterback in the country than Braxton.”

If Miller were to follow through on his expected verbal and signs with Ohio State next February, he would be the heir apparent to Terrelle Pryor in either 2011 or 2012, depending on if the current Buckeye starter decides to leave early for the NFL.

(Hint for Pryor: you’ll need one more season at the collegiate level regardless of what happens in your upcoming junior season. Trust the people that will tell you that very thing this coming December/January.)
