Rumors have been floating around for quite awhile that Mike Garrett might not be long for his job as athletic director at USC.
Given “the lack of institutional control” levied on his athletic program in the wake of NCAA sanctions Thursday, some have predicted that it’ll be sooner rather than later that Garrett is somehow relieved of his duties. That remains to be seen but, if Garrett is going down, he’s not going down without throwing a few haymakers first.
Speaking at a booster club meeting shortly after the historic sanctions were levied on his football program, Garrett was defiant and not the least bit contrite over the events of the day.
“As I read the decision by the NCAA,” he told the group, "... I read between the lines and there was nothing but a lot of envy. They wish they all were Trojans.
“Today I got a purpose for really wanting to dominate for another 10 years.”
Garrett added he “felt invigorated by this stuff” and that “with the penalty we got today I know we’re bigger than life.”

Insufferable much, Mr. Garrett?
