WR Coxson leaves Gators for Terps

Saying that he wanted to be closer to home, wide receiver Adrian Coxson has been released from his Florida scholarship and is transferring to Maryland.

The Baltimore native was part of Florida’s highly-touted 2010 recruiting class, but fell behind a pair of early enrollee receivers, which no doubt exacerbated his desire to get back from where he came.

“It’s a positive environment, and the coaches are really good,” Coxson said of Maryland according to the Baltimore Sun. “It’s a great place for me to achieve my goals and take me to the next level.”

Coxson was of one of 177* four-star players the Gators accumulated in this year’s class.

(*that’s an exaggeration; the actual number’s closer to 64.)
