USC transfer Aaron Corp has been named the starting quarterback for the Richmond Spiders after battling sophomore John Laub for the better part of the spring and summer.
Corp will be taking the field with the Spiders’ first team offense against Virginia on Sept. 4.
“It was a tremendous competition, with both Aaron and John Laub playing extremely well in preseason camp,” said coach Latrell Scott.
Corp, a junior, started one game last year for USC -- a 16-13 loss to Washington -- in which he went 13 of 22 for 110 yards. He was projected as the starter for the Trojans in 2009 before being sidelined with a preseason injury.
