Sooners’ No. 2 RB Madu suspended for opener

As expected, Oklahoma will be without running back Mossis Madu as they lift the curtain on the 2010 season.

Head coach Bob Stoops confirmed Tuesday that the senior has been suspended for the season opener against Utah State Sept. 4.

Madu was arrested July 24 and charged with driving under the influence after twice blowing more than twice the legal limit.

While he was a wide receiver in 2009, Madu’s total of 475 rushing yards in 2008 was good for third on the team. He’s listed as the No. 2 RB on the Sooners’ depth chart this year behind starter DeMarco Murray.
