OU’s Stoops kicking it into high gear

So to speak.

On Thursday, Oklahoma held walk-on try-outs for a place on the team as a kicker. Twenty-six students turned out in an attempt to overthrow current PK’s Patrick O’Hara, Jimmy Stevens, Bryce Easley and Michael Hunnicutt.

Earlier in the week, Bob Stoops said he wasn’t happy with his team’s kicking situation. So, Stoops did what any sensible coach would do: bring in random dudes off the street in an attempt to 1) maybe actually find a kicker, but more likely 2) sober his current kickers with the stark realization that they’re freaking kickers and expendable.

Stoops did not address the media Thursday and is currently evaluating those who tried out.
