No. 2 Buckeyes rolling 35-7 at the half

With 30 minutes still left to run out play, you can feel safe in neatly tucking Ohio State-Marshall into bed and moving on to other activities that have the potential to contain a little bit more suspense.

The No. 2 Buckeyes put up nearly 300 yards of total offense in the first half of their opener in Columbus and, as expected, are in control at the half by the score of 35-7.

Preseason Heisman favorite Terrelle Pryor has picked up where he left off in the Rose Bowl win over Oregon by completing 10-of-16 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Included in that total was a 65-yard touchdown pass to Dane Sanzenbacher that put the Buckeyes up 21-7 and answered the Herd’s lone score, a 45-yard return of a blocked field goal by Ahmed Shakoor.

Brandon Saine scored from 45 yards out for the fourth of five Buckeye touchdowns in the first half, and finished the first 30 minutes of the 2010 season with 103 yards on just eight carries. Saine also scored on a four-yard run less than five minutes into the game.

The Buckeyes’ defense held the Herd to just 101 first-half yards and five first downs. Brian Rolle returned an interception 30 yards late in the second quarter to close out the Buckeyes’ first-half scoring.

And, in effect, close out the Herd for both the half and the game.
