Wyoming playing for so much more than a W

In honor of Sept. 11, we keep our thoughts and prayers with those who lost their lives nine years ago. No one may understand the pain of losing someone close more than Wyoming right now. Early in the week, freshman linebacker Ruben Narcisse of the Cowboys lost his life in a car accident.

Now, with heavy hearts, his teammates must go out and play one of the premier teams in the country in the Texas Longhorns on the road. UConn knows exactly what Wyoming is going through. A week after cornerback Jasper Howard was murdered in 2009, the Huskies took the field against favored West Virginia, coming up just heart-breakingly short, 28-24.

Whether Wyoming keeps it close or gets blown out (or pulls off the upset), their heart and perseverance is nothing short of inspiring.

So, in a day in which we honor so many we’ve lost, I’m sure we’ll have room for one more.

Update: Wyoming keeping it close with the Longhorns. It’s 20-6 Texas at halftime.
