Meeechigan’s Forcier: ‘I’m not going to leave’

Tired of hearing about whether Tate Forcier is going to leave Michigan’s football program or not?

Didn’t think so.

A lot of people say I’m not staying here,” Forcier said Saturday after Michigan’s 65-21 win over Bowling Green. “But I’m still here. I’m doing this interview in front of you guys. I love Michigan. I love everything about it. I’m not going to leave. Not a chance. I love Coach Rod. I love these fans. I love Michigan football.”

Since the conclusion of last season, Forcier has taken his fair share of verbal lashings to say the least. Called out by his coach, his teammates and college football blogging interns everywhere *cough* *cough* for being a big ‘ole softy, Forcier was everyone’s favorite person to hate on.

With the emergence of fellow sophomore quarterback Denard Robinson, whose fast rise to stardom was only matched by his forty time, Forcier became yesterday’s news, only making headlines when he threatened to leave Ann Arbor.

When Robinson went down with a knee injury in week four, it was freshman Devin Gardner who took the field as the No. 2, leaving many to wonder how far Forcier had really fallen.

To Forcier’s credit, though, the sophomore made the most of his opportunity in mop up duty Saturday. Forcier completed all twelve of his passes and threw for a touchdown. He also ran 4 times for 30 yards.

That performance may have put him back at No. 2. behind Robinson.

“We wouldn’t be playing Devin if we didn’t think he was ready. Now, is he as ready (as) Denard or Tate? Maybe not yet because he’s just a first-year player,” said coach Rich Rodriguez.
