Surprise! QB Prince’s status for Bruins’ game Thurs. unclear

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: a UCLA quarterback walks into a (sushi) bar, aggravates an injury and leaves his status for the Bruins’ next game up in the air.

As has oft times been the case this season, Kevin Prince‘s availability for this weekend’s game against is uncertain due to a knee injury that’s bothered the sophomore for the better part of a month.

Prince sat out Monday night’s practice due to the lingering effects of the injury suffered Sept. 25 in the upset win over Texas. It’s been rumored that Prince’s injury is related to a torn ACL he suffered in high school, but the QB said an MRI performed as a precaution proved to be negative on that front.

“Simply because it wasn’t necessarily getting better,” Prince said according to the Los Angeles Daily News about the decision to have an MRI. “We’ve been trying to do different things, but it hasn’t been improving as fast as we’d like it to. We want to get a good picture of what’s going on in there.”

Richard Brehaut replaced an ineffective Prince late in the Bruins’ last game, a 35-7 loss to Cal two Saturdays ago.

UCLA will face No. 1 Oregon Thursday night in Eugene.
