Texas Tech reportedly loses two of their top WRs to season-ending injuries

Tommy Tuberville has had a rather disappointing so-so first season as Texas Tech’s replacement for Mike Leach. Standing at 4-4 with four games left, the Red Raiders face an uphill battle to avoid a bowl-less end to the season with games against No. 11 Oklahoma, No. 14 Missouri and Houston -- thanks for the Twitter follow, Coach Sumlin -- still remaining on the schedule.

Now, they’ll reportedly continue said uphill climb without two of their top four wide receivers.

Tuberville confirmed Monday that sophomore receiver Alex Torres will undergo knee surgery Tuesday and miss the remainder of the 2010 season. Chris Level of RedRaiderSports.com is also reporting that fellow WR Jacoby Franks is out for the duration as well; Franks suffered a foot injury against Colorado Oct. 23 and did not play against the Aggies last weekend.

Torres’ 32 receptions and 392 receiving yards are third on the team; Franks’ totals of 25 and 254 are both fourth on the Red Raiders.
