Quietly -- well, except for the Boise State cheering off in the distance -- Virginia Tech has run off seven straight wins after opening the season with two consecutive losses, including an embarrassing home loss to Div. 1-AA James Madison.
As the Hokies look to make it eight in a row, though, they’ll have to do so without a productive player from each side of the ball.
In a press release this afternoon, the school announced that starting defensive end Chris Drager and running back/return specialist David Wilson will miss this weekend’s game against North Carolina.
Drager, the release reads, is still suffering from lingering effects from a hit he took late in the Georgia Tech win. Wilson, who is the Hokies’ second-leading rusher amongst RBs and is the team’s best kick returner, has been diagnosed with a case of mono that will keep him out of the Tar Heels tilt.
Both players are expected back for the following week’s game against Miami.
