Clemson likely to be without one of their starting receivers

A starter at wide receiver since the second weekend of October, Bryce McNeal will likely have to relinquish that role for at least a week courtesy of an untimely injury.

The freshman suffered a heel injury during practice on Tuesday, and head coach Dabo Swinney has all but ruled him out for this weekend’s game against Wake Forest.

“That’s part of the game, that’s ball,” Swinney said. “You’ve got to keep moving and that’s what we’ve been doing. I’m really proud of our receivers.

“He came down on his heel [Tuesday] night. I think it’s plantar fasciitis, a little bit of a heel spur. It’s going to be hard for him to be able to do what he needs to do.”

McNeal is expected to be replaced in the starting lineup by junior Marquan Jones.

Since moving into the starting lineup six games ago, McNeal has caught 15 of his 19 receptions.
