Shannon on Jacory Harris: ‘Look for him to probably play this week’

Randy Shannon has been resolute in stating that, when Jacory Harris, he’s his starter at quarterback.

The day after Harris missed his third straight game because of the effects of a concussion late last month, Shannon is still singing the same tune.

The Miami head coach told reporters Sunday that, if Harris can practice this week, he’s “the starter like always.” Shannon also intimated that Harris was close to playing yesterday -- he dressed out in full uniform -- yet another sign that Harris’ return to the starting lineup is coming sooner rather than later.

“He probably could have but we weren’t going to do it because he’s not used to the timing and all that stuff,” Shannon said of Harris playing in the two-touchdown loss to Virginia Tech. “Look for him to probably play this week.”

Stephen Morris has started the past three games in place of Harris, winning the first two before the loss to the Hokies. The true freshman, though, threw three fourth-quarter interceptions in the loss, potentially making it easier for Shannon to insert Harris back into the starting lineup without “fear” of much fan backlash.
