WVU wins, waits on UConn for BCS bid

And then there were two.

West Virginia’s 35-14 win over Rutgers not only kept the Mountaineers’ BCS hopes alive with at least a share of the Big East title, but it also officially eliminated Pittsburgh from BCS contention.

And, now, WVU waits for 8 p.m. tonight when UConn travels to South Florida with their own BCS hopes on the line. A win over the Bulls would send UConn to, in all likelihood, the Fiesta Bowl where they would play the winner of tonight’s OU-Nebraska game.

WVU’s bowl possibilities include the Fiesta Bowl, or Orange Bowl in the event Virginia Tech wins the ACC. If UConn wins, the Champ Sports Bowl could take the Mountaineers.

Pitt will likely end up in the Meineke Car Care bowl and, if UConn loses, the Huskies could drop all the way to the BBVA Compass Bank Bowl.

Woohoo.
