Miami of Ohio might be on verge of coaching hire

A little over two weeks after Michael Haywood left to become Pittsburgh’s head coach, Miami of Ohio may have found a replacement.

According to Tom Dienhart of Rivals.com, a team meeting has been called for 11:45 a.m. ET Friday, at which point it’s expected the players are to be told who their new head coach will be.

It’s not yet known who the coach will be, but Dienhart’s hearing it will either be Michigan State offensive coordinator Don Treadwell or North Carolina offensive coordinator John Shoop. Previously, we had been told that Nebraska offensive coordinator Shawn Watson and Ohio State assistant Luke Fickel were viable candidates as well.

Treadwell’s name has been mentioned in connection to the job almost since it came open, while Shoop is a recent addition to the RedHawk speculation.
