Harris affirms his commitment to Miami

Jacory Harris has been Miami’s go-to quarterback for the past 2 seasons, but with Al Golden coming in to replace Randy Shannon, coupled with the emergence of fellow quarterback Stephen Morris, Harris’ job is far from secure.

Still, the junior insists he’s a Hurricane no matter what. “I’ve been here for three years going on four. That’s like me running way from the competition. I’ve never been the type to do that,” Harris said previously in an article by the Palm Beach Post. “I’m looking forward to it. I just have to make a name for myself, get bigger, get better, make smarter decisions.”

And that last part -- you know, about making smarter decisions -- can’t be emphasized enough. If there’s one thing that has truly hurt Harris during his time in Miami, it’s been his inconsistency.

In Miami’s loss to Notre Dame in the Sun Bowl, Harris attempted only seven passes, three of which were intercepted, before he was promptly benched in favor of an injured Morris. Not exactly a stellar audition.

But if Morris were to get the starting job and Harris did decide to transfer, it will leave Miami with only one quarterback on the roster (Morris) with any previous playing experience.
