Miami (OH) wins Danica Patrick bowl

And in a related story, JT is glad he didn’t have to cover it.

I have to say, though, that based on our featured image, not all sponsorships are bad. *Drool*

But, there are two interesting story lines (well, at least, if you’re into MAC football) from Miami (OH)'s 35-21 victory over Middle Tennessee State in what is officially the GoDaddy.com bowl -- none of which involve interviewing Danica Patrick on the sidelines.

First, the Redhawks were able to grab a bowl victory after the their coach, Mike Haywood, bolted from Oxford in favor of a job at Pittsburgh.

And we all saw how that worked out. Advantage: Miami (OH).

Secondly, and pretty impressively, Miami was the first (mid) major college program in history to go from a season of 10 or more losses, to a season of 10 or wins back-to-back.

Of course, a lot of that can be contributed to the job that Haywood did at Miami, but given his less-than-flattering domestic violence arrest, we’ll just say it was the hard work of the players.

Former Michigan State OC Don Treadwell has been named the Redhawks’ new coach heading into the 2011 season.
