‘Canes reportedly dip into NFL for offensive coordinator

It’s been rumored that new Miami head coach Al Golden would hire a current NFL assistant to fill the hole at offensive coordinator.

Reportedly, those rumors have come to fruition.

By way of the Miami Herald, Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Seattle Seahawks quarterbacks coach Jedd Fisch has accepted Golden’s offer to become Miami’s new coordinator.

This would be Fisch’s second stint as a coordinator in the collegiate ranks; in 2009, he directed Minnesota’s offense before moving back to the NFL. In his one year at the school, the Gophers finished 100th in scoring (20.9) and 109th in total offense (306.5).

Fisch spent 1999 and 2000 as a grad assistant on Steve Spurrier‘s Florida staff, then spent the next eight seasons as an NFL assistant.

The Seahawks face the Chicago Bears Sunday in an NFC divisional playoff game, so it’s unclear when Fisch would join the Hurricanes.
